Pina Berlin is the solo-project of the Berlin based singer-songwriter Pinar Tatlikazan, who was born in Bursa/Turkey, was shaped in Istanbul and has been living and growing in Berlin since 2010. She started her vocal education with classical singing in Istanbul and has studied with established jazz musicians from Berlin, Istanbul, and Massachusetts. Pina Berlin focuses on human interaction and finding a life path from a self-criticizing, yet motivational point of view. Introducing her music as “Motivational-Folk-Rock”, it bares influences ranging from rock, folk, pop, jazz, Brazilian music, to oriental rhythms. As if Norah Jones and Led Zeppelin were collaborating when Tarkan and Sting crashed the party. Being in the middle of countries, professions, cultures, perspectives, and genres was her choice; as challenging as it was to strike a balance and a real self, never really choosing a side – and trying to understand all. In a very busy and individualistic world, Pina has made it her mission to help her audience empathize, to spread positivity and hope through her music. A key component of her performance is the invitation she extends to her audience to sing and seek with her. She recently finished the release tour of her debut album funded by Initiative Musik and received nominations for the best adult contemporary song at ISC, best video at PBIMA with her debut single “I’ll be Missing You” and best video for ARFF with "Im Süden/Güneyde".
